When we refer to Internet browsers, proposals such as Edge, Firefox or Chrome generally come to mind. But these are not the only programs of this type that we can get hold of.

Many other developers launch their own projects in this regard, some focused on certain topics, such as security or privacy. Well, this is the case of Brave , a proposal that has its market and that has been with us for a while. Thus, at this point, we will say that this is a program that has native support for downloading torrent files. Therefore, as we mentioned before, if we use this web browser, we avoid having to resort to third-party solutions.

There are many proposals in the form of torrent clients that we can draw on for a long time. These programs, as we mentioned before, allow us to configure them to deal with P2P networks and download these files in the best way.

But at the same time and over the years, their developers have realized that many users prefer to use the browser for these tasks. In this way, what some have done has been to bring the client to their own web version to download from the browser itself. For example, this is the case of one of the most popular clients, since some time ago its top managers launched uTorrent Web.

In this way and as you can imagine, we can download these files directly from our favorite browser, whatever it is. The same happens with the case of BitTorrent, another of the mythical P2P clients in the sector that also have their own web version that we access from here. So we see the download speed, size, or its status, among other things of interest. In this way we avoid having to use external third-party clients. Another extension that we can use to download torrents is this proposal, a complement that we can download and install in Chrome.

Once this is done, it presents us with a series of interesting functions in this regard. As an example, Bitford allows us to preview via streaming the videos that we are downloading, something that will be very useful to us. Keep in mind that in this case we have an open source JavaScript developer project and it saves us the use of additional P2P clients. Below we show you the alternative called uTorrent Easy Client , which, as its name suggests, is the Chrome extension of the popular uTorrent client.

This only requires a simple initial configuration so that we can download files in torrent format without using any other program besides Chrome. On the other hand, as in the previous case, other of the most popular P2P clients also offer us their own extension for the Google browser. In this way we will have the possibility of making and working with these files that we are commenting on, directly from here as if it were just another web download.

We also have another possibility to dispense with the use of additional clients to the browser, downloading these torrent files from the web directly. This is something that we are going to show you in these same lines as well. Although just an alpha release, Torque brings the torrent client to the browser, extending it to create web apps that other developers can build upon.

This leads us to a new Chrome extension called OneClick. Once installed, it can be used to convert torrents into simple downloads that can be done within the browser. Working with OneClick is amazingly simple. You just need to click on any downloadable torrent on the Internet, and the extension will process the Torrent and deliver the individual files as separate downloads.

This removes the friction of having to open a desktop client to download files. OneClick does not currently support resumed downloads, making it ideal only for people with fast connections. Still, by emulating Torrents like any regular downloads within the browser, it makes the experience much simpler for non-techie people. There will be more apps coming that will leverage BitTorrent Torque, and if more developers create useful stuff like OneClick, then there are exciting times ahead for fans of torrent downloading.

Chrome extensions are good stuff but I agree with BenBen- I started using torchbrowser a while ago and use it to download a lot of torrents. Open the Files app, then right-click on the name of the torrent file. You can see the progress of all your downloads in this window or the notification area. You can also download a file by pasting the torrent URL near the top of the window. Deluge is a free torrent client for Linux operating systems, and more and more Chromebooks can install desktop Linux applications.

Close the terminal once the installation is complete. Select your username on the left, then double click the torrent file you copied to the Linux folder. You can also download the torrent by URL. The torrent will start downloading.

No matter which method you use to download a torrent, remember to be safe. While Chromebooks are more secure than Windows or macOS computers, downloading a file from a shady site is never a good idea. With that in mind, happy downloading!
