Get sonarr to download smaller files
Turn on all of the options under Complete Download Handling as well as Failed Download handling so that Sonarr will delete the downloads from the history once done. Optionally you can setup set the category under the client settings so that when Sabnzbd is done downloading the file it will be organized into the appropriate folder.
If you choose to do this, you have to set the category within Sabnzbd as well as manually make the folder because Sabnzbd will not create it automatically. Now that Sonarr is setup, you can begin adding shows by clicking the Series button at the top and then the green Add Series button. Put in a show name that you would like to add to your collection. As I previously mentioned, we do not care about television very much and we do not have a lot of storage so we went with the SD profile with the cutoff being DVD quality.
Next you will need to choose the path where the TV show folders will be created. Sonarr will begin to search all of the seasons using the indexers that you setup and send them to your download client using the API key. Once Sonarr is told that the files are done downloading, it will rename them according to your preferences and then place them in your TV Show folder.
For the above example Sonarr would move all of the episodes to:. Thank you so much for this tutorial Dustin! Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. I find myself manually doing a lot of stuff in Sonarr and I think that goes against what its designed for.
Any tips to solve my problem? Or am I just too picky? I think that would be a perfect idea! If medium, Sonarr would try to grab the file size closest to the midpoint of the range, and if low, grab the lowest file size within the set range.
Am I using tags right now in version 2? Are the Quality Definitions the tags that you are taking about? You would propose making tags for the file ranges, for example the 2GB tag would mean 2GB - 2. Then in the Profiles section where we create our own personalized profiles we can add the file size tags. Since I'm on a metered internet connection I would like to avoid fetching a 2GB file for a 30 minute show that I'll end up watching on a tiny screen. However, for some shows the only thing available is a large file and I would rather spend the bandwidth to get that then have nothing at all.
At the moment, I find myself spending a lot of time manually downloading files because I have setup my download profiles to target small encodings. Sometimes fairly often a show won't have an encoding available at the target size, which means I have to go in and manually initiate a download. Also surprised this is still not implemented, all that would be required is a switch on the function used to compare size i.
Line in c75c We've implemented preferred size for quality settings on Radarr v3 which also would be a fairly easy pull over. It solves this as Taloth mentions above. Answers like this got me to my solution: I'm willing to download 's and 's But I would prefer the smaller files, not larger. And if I limit the quality definitions I just get cut off completelly if there are no results within the threshold.
It should be a preferred size, not a red line that prevents the download from happening at all. I might prefer a p video with relatively low size than a video with the same or bigger size. But because I cannot filter by size in the end I have to give up on p completelly if I want to avoid big p videos being preferred over p ones. Currently I'm doing that with Radarr for movies but Sonarr does not have a way to do this for Radarr I'm using "custom formats" to do it, which would be sort of similar to Sonarr's "release profiles".
